PBX Call Recording

This article explains how to configure call recordings for inbound calls using our PBX call flow tool.

The Call Recording object is a feature that allows you to record inbound and outbound calls, which are then emailed to the nominated email addresses. 

Configure inbound call recording

  • In order to enable inbound Call Recording on your call flow, you will need to drag a Call Recording prefix object from your PBX toolbox.
  • Next you will need to configure the Call Recording prefix object, click on the settings icon in the bottom right corner of the object.


  • Enter the following details to complete the Component settings for this object;
    • Name: A description for the object.
    • Emails: Enter the email address you would like the recordings to be send to. Additional email addresses can be added by clicking the add email button. 
    • Record after answer: Enabling this option will only record the inbound calls once they have been answered

  • Once you have successfully configured the inbound Call Recording connect the object into your call flow and test an inbound call. 

Stopping Call Recording

If you would like to stop inbound calls from being recorded, we will need to use the Stop Call Recording object. An example, of where this could be used would be asking the caller to press a certain digit from a voice menu, if they would not like their calls recorded. 

  • In order to include a Stop Call Recording into your call flow, you will need to drag a Stop Call Recording prefix object from your PBX toolbox.
  • Next you will need to configure the Stop Call Recording object, click on the settings icon in the bottom right corner of the object.
  • Enter the following details to complete the Component settings for this object;
    • Name: A description for the object. 

  • Once you have successfully configured the Stop Call Recording connect the object into your call flow and test an inbound call. 
  • You can also configure an internal number to be used to stop call recordings on a call in progress by performing a Blind transfer to the internal number.

    in the example above if you transfer a call to extension 4050, this will stop the call recording and the transfer the call back to the users configured in the Ring Group.

 

Lastly, for outbound call recording this is configured on the User objects themselves. Open the settings of each of your User and check the enable outbound call recording feature. Enter the email subject that you would like to appear on the recordings and the email address in which you want the calls to be sent to. 

 

Finally don't forget to Apply the Configuration when any changes are made to the Call Recording or associated objects.
